in Southern Nevada |
Fire and police services are funded in a similar manner throughout Southern Nevada by means of appropriations from local government general funds. General fund limitations and other factors will not always cover public safety needs on a pay as you go basis. Public safety capital facilities are provided by property tax supported, voter approved bond issues. Given the absence of a fixed, stable revenue source local entity referendum bond issues can be expected to continue.
Public Safety Recommendations
Immediate Local Action
Continue to fund public safety as a priority item of general fund expenditures.Continue to seek voter approved bond issues for public safety capital improvements.
